Being shaped like a dragon’s head dimly looming in the thin veil of the early morning, Ham Rong Mountain (Dragon Jaw Mountain) is a fine combination of man-made and natural landscape is an attractive tourist area in the center of Sapa town.

Ham Rong Mountain is right in Sapa Town. The mountain is home to some stunning orchid gardens and "rock gardens". From Ham Rong Mountain, we can have the best view of Sapa and the surrounding fresh nature including Mount Fansipan.

The path leading up to Ham Rong Mountain consists of many stone steps and a winding trail higher up will help to see small streams lazily run through bushy foliage. Once conquering San May (Cloud Yard), the peak of Ham Rong Mountain at the altitude of 1800m, visitor can enjoy the imposing panorama of Sapa town. From the main road up hill, travelers will find themselves in an orchid -garden with over 400 species of colorful blooms. Besides, there are a lot of indigenous and exotic flowers grown along the paths like Lily of the Nile, hydrangea, geraniums, ox-eyed daisy and cheery blossom

Ham Rong Mountain has been listed among the top eight most stunning sunset locations in the world by the US’ Huffington Post newspaper.

The sun sets over the mountain range across the valley, and the fading light paints the town and surrounding area with an array of colour”, the newspaper describes the view at Ham Rong.

Ham Rong Mountain is also the starting point of some of Vietnam trekking tours.
